get together party

I was on vacation this Summer to my home town, B'lore. The batch of 74 from my school where i was a teacher, hosted a party in famous cricket stadium club house. My student Mr. Prasad Tagot, his wife Mrs. Vasanthi and thier son Sri Hari are seen in this pic. My sister is in this pic too. It was the most wonderful party always to remember. The love and affection they all have towards me is immense. Always good to cherish those happy moments.

Our family went on vacation to Bangalore, my hometown during this summer. We had opportunity to visit Lal Bagh horticulture show held for Aug 15th, Indian Independence Day. The host of marigold, mums , hycanth, juniper and variety of flowers in thier bright hue feasted our eyes. worth visiting.

Partial view of Grand Cannyon

We happen to visit Grand Cannyon a couple of years back. I was really stunned to see the marvel of this amazing Cannyon. It was something beyond my reach to assess the depth of this nature's wonderful creation. Perhaps my vision and perception was limited. After my return, I was browzing through the photographs taken during that visit. Just felt, why not i give some shape to my imagination about this cannyon. So it has come out in the form of my water color painting. The Colorado river passing through peacefully in the depth of the cannyon is eyecatching. The bright hue of brown, yellow and deep blue adores the steep range. Hope i have brought my dream into reality.!

Baby Krishna on Aladele leaf

This painting is about baby Krishna resting on Aladele leaf, popularly known as Vatapathrashai. It reveals about innocence in his face which is much against his nature when he grows up, since he is known for his pranks in his childhood days. Yet we all love his episodes about stealing butter in Gopikas houses, tying himself to the grinding stone, hoodwinking Yashoda and much more. It is my small attempt to draw one's attention to those bygone days of Dwapara Yuga of Krishana's incarnation.

Krishna's boat ride with Gopikas

This painting is about Krishna have boat ride in moonlight with Gopikas. The inspiration for me to paint this picture is one of the episodes in Bhagavatha. Gopikas desire is to spend their time with Sri Krishna. One can view the colorful boat in which Krishna is amused by the musical notes from gopika. The clear,shimmering water of Yamuna river in the moonlit night would attract anyone's attention in this scene. The illuminated palace, garden and courtyard at the backdrop are some of the eye catching features of the paintings. This is my humble effort to bring my imagination of Bhagavatha's narration about Krishna's childhood days and his youth in Vrundavan .

Bare trees of winter

The winter as such is a season when the trees lose their dressing of leaves and look bare. Even in this background clear sky, they look so majestic with the wide spread branches. It looks as though they are in anticipation of Spring Season so that they are dressed with tender Green leaves and welcome the season. As the season indicates, Spring is in air and bring joy to everyone! Welcome Spring season.

The fascination to paint this wonderful scene is from the calender picture in my home. The mountains, the spiky pine trees, the bright colored flowers of callaway gardens and the swift waves attracts any one's mind and eyes to visit Georgia. Hope i will be able to make trip to this place to see this wonderful gardens.!

Toronto skyline view

This is the jig-saw puzzle assembled by our young artists Rakshith & Veda. They visited Canada and happened to visit Toronto Sky line. They were thrilled by this beautiful place. After their return from Canada, they narrated their experience during their vacation and expressed their desire to give life for their imagination about this skyline. They got this jig-saw puzzle and worked out as a project during their summer vacation in 2008. Hope it kindles everyone's desire to visit Toronto skyline and enjoy this wonderful scene.

Gajendra Moksha

This painting is from one of the Indian mythology. It is about Gajendra (elephant) praying Lord Vishnu to rescue him when his feet was gripped in the jaws of Crocodile. The Ashwani god with flowers to offer for the lord is eye catching. The lake with lotus, lush greenery are the other features of the pic. This episode conveys to all of us that sincere prayers are always heard by the almighty.

Krishna hoodwinking Yashoda

I always like the narrations about the childhood days of Sri Krishna in Gokula. He is always known for his naughty tricks to trouble Yashoda. This painting is about Krishna refusing for bath and Yashoda with her gesture to catch him while he was running from her sight. The young girls and old woman are looking stunningly at mother Yashoda and baby Krishna. The beautiful palace, the cow with her baby calf, the lush greenery are the added attractions of the picture. It is my attempt to feel one to get into this state of mind to picture all about the wonderful childhood plays of baby Krishna.

Krishna & Radha on the banks of Yamuna

The inspiration for this painting is from the greeting card i got from my neice during deepavali festival. Krishna is boyhood friend for many gopalas. He pleased everyone with his sweet pleasant tunes on his flute and a great joy to all gopikas. Radha is one such beautiful young girl who loved Krishna. The highlight of the painting is both Krishna and Radha in the midst of the mangrove. The lurking water of Yamuna river and the mountains are the other added features of the paintings.

Krishna & Balarama in woods

Krishna and Balarama are two great personalities in the Mahabharatha Epics. This painting conveys the idea that both of them have set out in woods in search of their companion. The fawn, ducks & peacocks are all set their eyes on these two young boys who are in the woods. The added attractions are the clear lake and greenery in the picture.

The spring season, as known "The King of Seasons" is the most fascinating time when the mother earth is dressed in a beautiful green saree with colorful blossoms. ( The plants with lush tender green leaves and pretty flowers). This is the most welcoming season for all of us after hard winter. Here is the bunny in this picture making attempt to catch butterfly.

Cottage & A rural side scene

The state i come from is rich in many rural areas. I was on sight seeing to Mysore during my vacation in Summer. I was travelling by train. The river Cauveri and the mountain ranges and the paddy fields were really eye soothing. The small cottage with greenery surrounded by it inspired me to sketch this scene and paint. I always cherish the idea of living in such serene atmosphere of nature. Hope it is dream come true.

Krishna&Balarama's pranks to steal butter

This painting is about Krishna & Balarama compelling mother Yashoda to give them butter. Yashoda refuses to give since they would hoodwink her and steal thebutter. They think the best way to get the bounty is to distract her attention by pulling her necklace and her braid. Mother Yashoda is really perplexed at their pranks. Finally, she is fascinated by their innocent look and charms, agrees to feed them with butter. The highlights of the picture is the well lit palace with gorgeous designed pillars. I assume, it is my best effort to make one visualize the childhood days of Krishna & Balarama in Nandagokula.

Vishwamithra & Menaka

This painting is from Indian mythology which narrates about Vishwamithra and Menaka who are supposed to be the parents of Shakunthala. The celestial Deva Indra commands the damsel Menaka to descend to the Earth to divert the sage from his hard penance, since Vishwamithra is known for challenges. Beautiful Menaka who is apsara woman, known for her charm, attempts to lure the sage. So the sage is carried away by her beauty and fails to complete his penance. Then Shakuntala is born to them . She gets married to the great king Dushyantha and so goes the narration. I feel, this is an attempt to bring my imagination to reality by way of painting.

Saraswathi:Goddess of Learning

This painting is about Saraswathi, "The Goddess of Learning." All of us worship this Goddess for our sucess in quest of learning and to bless us with knowledge. The important aspects of the picture is the greenery around, the shimmering water and the peacocks listening to the melodious tunes of veena played by the Goddess.

Ekalavya's gurudakshina for Drona

It is always my interest to recollect the episodes from Mahabharatha. The most memorable one is single minded dedication of Ekalavya to learn archery from guru Dronacharya. Drona promises Arjuna that he would train him as the best archer in the universe that he is unchangeable. As they came through the forest, both of them happen to see Ekalavya practising archery with Drona's image in front of him. Arjuna was surprised to see another archer as his rival. Guru Drona realised the consequences. He taunts Ekalavya for crossing his wishes to practice the art without granting him permission. Then Ekalavya says he had Drona as guru mentally. So Drona takes this opportunity and demands the young boy to offer gurudakshina. Ekalavya offers his thumb as his token. The main focus of the painting is the hermitage, the serene atmosphere of the nature with river flowing by, the mountains and the green trees.

This is my second painting about Geethopadesha. The essence of Bhagavadgeetha is revealed by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the battlefeild of Kurkshethra which is an eyeopener for Arjuna when his mind was debating whether it was justice to slay his own kith and kin, guru Dronacharya,his grand sire, Bheeshma, who was the elderly head of both pandavas and Kuravas.

Family friends reunion

This is the snap taken when our family friends Mr.& Mrs.Edrays were invited for the dinner this year. The young missy in the photo is Veda.

Far bank & river view

This is an inspiration from Monet's art. The far bank and river fill woman's field of vision. The surface of water is unruffled. The reflections are intact. What she sees,and what we see with her, is a world of reflections, a watery,upsidedown world of pure visibility that only exists in the eye and under these conditions.

Krishna 's journey to Nandagopa's abode

It is always my interest to read the interesting ancedotes of Sri Krishana's early phase of childhood. One such extract is about Krishna being born to Devaki and Vasudeva at Kamsa's palace. Kamsa had his fears of being killed by eighth son of Devaki. So Devaki and Vasudeva were kept in prison. Krishna was lifted to Nandagopa's house before dawn. So that was the childhood abode of baby krishna. This extract was inspiration to paint this picture.

This painting is just a wild dream of two leapords resting happily in a shelter on a hot, summer day near ocean front, which may be only in imagination!

Multinova falls of Portland

We visited Portland, Oregon in 2003. We had wonderful vacation there. We visited a couple of interesting places like Japanese Rose garden, Omani science center, Crater lake and Multan falls. I was more fascinated to view this gushing water falls surrounded by lush grenery. After my return, i wanted to paint this pic since the memory was still green in my mind. So , this thought is brought out to all viewers in water color picture.

Dushyantha's samagama with Shakuntala

This painting is about the great king Dushyantha meeting Shakuntala in the hermitage of Maharshi Kanva. Shakuntala is with her friend fetching water to Kanva. Dushyantha, who is on animal hunt happens to sight this beautiful damsel and her friend. He is taken away by her beauty and charm, pleads Shakuntala to tie wedlock in Gandarva manner . So goes the narration . Bharatha, the famous king who ruled Bharathavarsha (India)was the son of Shakuntala and Dushyantha.

The inspiration to sketch and paint this picture is from our vacation to myrtle beach during last summer. We had taken waterfront resort for our stay. It was so soothing to spend a couple of days away from our hometown, Hampton from our busy routine. The beautiful clear water, and the endless seashore was really breath taking. Vedu, our little girl and Rakshith had nice time surfing in water, building sand castles and collecting shells. Hope one can visualise this picture in mind,feel and enjoy!

We visited Hawaii in 2006. After visiting beautiful spots like active volcanoes, beaches and underwater world by submarine, we had nice drive to countryside in the evening. The houses at yonderside of the water really attracted me. After my return, i just give thought of giving colors to my imagination of these scenes which was unforgettable in my mind. It is worth mentioning about our family friends Sheshadris who inspired me to join them in this wonderful trip to Hawaii. Thanks to them. Guess, i have made sincere attempt to bring life to this picture.

I happened to see this picture in one the books I read. The fascinating background of lush green grass and the horses grazing around,the gushing water inspired me to sketch this picture of horses and it's background.I have used watercolor pencils to color this painting on watercolor paper.

we usually get season greeting cards during Christmas season. The source for this painting is from one of the greeting cards. One can view the Calm river flowing at the backdrop and nice,green, spiky trees at the backdrop. The animals are happily pasturing in the vast grassland.

pandavas escape from lac palace

TThis painting is about Duryodhana's plot to bring an end to pandavas and Droupadi since he always had ill will towards pandavas. So he got built a lac palace away from Hastinapura and offered Pandavas to live there. But they sensed the evil thought of Duryodhana to kill them. At the dead of the night, they set fire to "Aragina Aramane" and escaped along with mother Kunthi and wife Droupadi. This is my small attempt to give life to my thought and bring it in the form of painting.
