Darpana Sundari at Belur Temple
I was on vacation to my hometown in 1992. My interest was to visit the famous temples of
Belur
and
Halebede
, near
Hasan
Dist, which is known for their architectural and sculpture work. During the rule of
Harshavardana
, who belonged to
Hoysala
dynasity
, a famous
sculpturist
known as
Sri
Jakanachari
carved these
scul
ptures
on the walls of
Belur
temples. The most interesting one was
Darpana
Sundari
, a dancer looking her reflection in the mirror.
So i thought of etching herself on a metal sheet, which is called engraving on a metal. I hope this takes one's mind to that historic era of great Empire and famous
sculpturists
of that time.
Materials: metal sheet, engraving needle, black paint
