The intricate design of the carpet is added attraction in the picture.

Mother Mary with her baby Jesus

I wanted to paint the innocence of a baby. What better than paint the picture of baby Jesus with his mother. The significance of the birth of a major religion in the planet Earth.I hope that everybody can see the innocence of the baby and the love of his mother. Merry Christmas!!!

Bagavatgeeta

Bhagavadgeetha is the holy scripture which is my guide. Lord Krishna's teachings to Arjuna is a practical application for all of us in different walks of life. The inspriation for me to paint this picture is one of the scenes from this Bagavadgeetha.

Goddess of wealth

The inspiration for this painting is from one of the books i was reading about Mahalakshmi, goddess of wealth. The serene look of the face, seated on lotus , who is popularly called Ksherasagarakanike, draws one's view and invokes devotion.

Sri Rama's incarnation

Sri Rama, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu was really a source of inspiration for this painting. Lakshmna as ardent brother, Janaki, devoted wife, Hanuman, who is known as Ramduth, inspires all to follow their ideals in life.

flower girl

I was on a vacation to my hometown, Bangalore,India, a couple of years back. I had fascination to visit all the gardens in B'lore which is considered as a garden city. The Lal Bagh is the wonderful garden that interests me more. It was a beautiful morning, the day i visited. The young girl seated near the lake with her flower basket, watching the ducks grabbed my attention. The beautiful flowers, lush grass and the rising sun and the flower girl invoked my painting spirit to give life to this thought. So, this is the water color picture i painted.

materials: water color paper, water media

Rocky Bugal rock

I happen to visit my hometown in 1991, There are many worth visiting areas in and around where i stayed with my family people. One of them is famous Bugle Rock. As the name implies, this place has huge rocks nicely shaped. The steps carved in the rocky place leads to a sort of Gazebo, from where one will get the nice view of the surroundings with temples and other nice buildings. I ascended these steps, a bit hard though, to have a nice look of the bugle rock and the garden there. Just felt, why not i give life to this thought of making more pictureque by sketching and coloring with bright colors. So this is the picture that I could paint.

Materials:water color paper
colors: blend of blue, brown, green, red

Dawn's angel and usha prabhe

The early morning, that's before Sunrise is supposed to be Usha Prabhe when the goddess of nature casts her radiance on Earth before the sun brightens up the sky with his rays. I just wanted to see the sun rise , near the beach which is close to my place where i live. I sped at dawn to have this wonderful view. Oh! it was breath taking scene to watch the rippling water, the entire horizon lit up with the bright sun rays. This scene really inspired me to paint this picture.

flowers blossoms

Myself and Veda visited one of the parks during Spring Season. As the season indicates, The flowering plants were in full bloom and swaying gently in the breeze. Veda was breath taken with the hue of beautiful, bright colors. She expressed her interest to sketch the bunch of flowers, and color them. So this is the wonderful picture she created from her imagination.

Vetheuil memories from Monet

Nereides,sea nymph

This memento was a gift from my nephew , who visited Thailand some time back. It inspired me to sketch this maiden and paint her.The Nereides were depicted in ancient art as beautiful young maidens, sometimes running with small dolphins or fish in their hands. Hope I will be able to visit this beautiful island sometime.

Darpana Sundari at Belur Temple

I was on vacation to my hometown in 1992. My interest was to visit the famous temples of Belur and Halebede, near Hasan Dist, which is known for their architectural and sculpture work. During the rule of Harshavardana, who belonged to Hoysala dynasity, a famous sculpturist known as Sri Jakanachari carved these sculptures on the walls of Belur temples. The most interesting one was Darpana Sundari, a dancer looking her reflection in the mirror.
So i thought of etching herself on a metal sheet, which is called engraving on a metal. I hope this takes one's mind to that historic era of great Empire and famous sculpturists of that time.

Materials: metal sheet, engraving needle, black paint

honolulu beach

I visited Honolulu which is one of the Hawaiian islands. It was a beautiful beach that inspired me. There are many active volcanic spots in the islands of Hawaii. The water is very clear, turquoise, and is very light aqua.I saw surfers having a great time surfing on water. After my return, the scene of the was still lingering in thoughts. So I thought of giving life to the picture by a way of painting.

lighthouse of outer banks

we went on vacation to outer banks of North Carolina. We had nice time playing in sand dunes. Apart from that, we could also visit Light House which fascinated me more.Located along Highway 12 south on Hatteras Island, the Cape Hatteras Light is the most recognized, photographed, painted, read about and admired lighthouse in North America and is a National Historic Landmark. After my return from vacation, i gave life to the thought of light house by painting this picture.

Ando Hiroshige, Kozuke of Iga

The source for me to bring out this picture in pencil and pen is from the woodblock print. This is a scene from the countryside of Japan. The mountain in the backdrop with the lofty trees facing them is the highlights of the picture. The bridge hanging over underneath the river is a fascinating sight for view.

Florida beach

our family visited Disney world last Dec. We had great time seeing the interesting Theme parks like Magic kingdom, universal Studio and Epcot Center. We took a day off from there and visited Beach. It was wonderful sight to see the vast span of ocean and waves dashing the shoreline. The surfers were having great time. This was the theme for my painting. After our return, i picked my palette, brush and colors to give a life to my theme, which is the result of this sea scape.

Rama and Sita in panchavati

Inspiration for this painting came from Rama and Sita. Though they were sent to live in forest they both had a lot of love and affection to give one another. I and my Husband mr.Murthy have lived life on this spirit. Through good and bad give one another the unselfish love and affection. I hope and pray that may Lord Rama keep his blessings on both of us all the time.

Dancer in Kanchi temple

I am really excited to write about Kanchi temple. The temple by itself is such a magnificent sight to see. The glorious days of Cholas and Cheras come in front of the eyes just by visiting the Kanchi Kamakshiamman temple. The beautiful stone workmanship should be appreciated by anyone who gets to see the artwork. My inspiration for this painting came from this temple. I feel really proud and joy at the same time to paint.

Krishna with mother Yeshodha

We all have heard stories of Lord krishna from our parents or elders in the family at some point of our life. I am fascinated by the enigmatic charm that lord Krishna possessed. though he was very naughty nobody could get mad at him because of his smile and charm that he possessed. There was such innocence in the mystic stories that were told about lord Krishna. In this painting I tried to bring in some of the naughtiness of krishna and the wonderful moment that he could have had with his mother Yeshoda.

A scene from Alaska

Alaska, I must say is really beautiful. I have heard and seen from people who have been there. Since I am fortunate enough to be North America someday I hope and wish that I get to see this natures beauty at its best. Though the pictures which I got to see portrays and depicts the beauty I cannot say that it would be enough to see such undisturbed beauty of mother nature. I tried to bring in a little bit of that beauty in my painting.

Spring blossom

I love the blossom of spring. The beautiful colors of the flowers and the garden is a wonderful sight. I have to tell painting a blossom brings in a kind of inner peace in itself. I always try to bring in the sights that I find fascinated and drawn towards in my painting. I try to relive the moment by looking at the painting. Though I must say that I am an amateur painter. I hope i have done justice to this painting.

Hidelberg castle

I have told in my earlier part that I was fortunate enough to visit Europe about 2 years back. I first have to thank Malini and Balaji for taking the interest to book for the trip. It was the most memorable trip of my lifetime. I got to visit so many wonderful places throughout Europe. However I feel Germany had the most wonderful castles throughout Europe. I cannot define the beauty that is the reason that I thought if I painted it would at least show some of the beauty that I got to experience.

Agra fort

Resort in New England

Somehow I feel like painting nature is how I connect with the world I guess. However I should say this painting is all my imagination as to how it would be in New England. I have never visited this place.Though I must say my imagination a lot of beautiful scenes do come up to the mind once I always think of this place. I hope it is the same with everybody's imagination of this place. I hope nature is always there for all to enjoy as nature is such a beauty that no photography or painting would do justice.

Wedding march of Pooja and Gautham

How happy I am today to write about Gautham(Pappu). I wanted to depict his and his wife Poojas wedding day. I just went back a couple of centuries back in my thought and wanted to bring in the beauty of Palaki and the Dula taking his bride with him. I hope Gautham you will be proud of me for doing this painting.

Meera singing the devotion to Lord Krishna

I have always been fascinated by Meera bhajan. My inspiration for this painting in the form of a greeting card by one of our friends. The moment I saw the card I was fascinated by Meera and her devotion to Krishna which comes out in the form of Bhajans. Every single time we go to sing a song on Krishna we always come across at least one bhajan by Meera. My hands itched to paint her. she is my inspiration. I have painted on acrylic and oil medium on a canvas.

Veda on the banks of Kaveri

Veda has got the inspiration to paint from me. She watches me paint and she is all excited to paint herself. I hope she carries this hobby for a long time. I have a painting of Radha on the banks of a river. She said she would like to paint of herself since she had visited the banks of Kaveri. She used water color pencils on a watercolor paper. I hope you all are as excited as I was when she did this painting.

Montana Glacier mountains

The inspiration to Montana Glacier mountains came to me in the form of a card that I received from friends who visited Montana for their vacation. It brought me a thought and a desire that I should visit Montana some time. I have still not got the opportunity. The thought and the desire to visit the glacier became my inspiration to paint. I am fortunate to be an artist. I can imagine how it would be when I personally go there. It is a wonderful thought and sight to see. I hope I did justice to my vision of the glacier. The medium that I selected for this vision is acrylic on a canvas.

Fisherman on Coramondal shores

The inspiration for this painting came from my visit to South India in the year 2007. I was fortunate enough to take a trip throughout South India through a conducted vacation. The whole experience and the beauty of South India is breathtaking. How ever the shores of Kerala was spectacular. The fisherman fishing early morning before the sun rise was a beauty in all by itself. These fishermen became my inspiration for this painting. The color palette that I have used is a different medium than the usual water painting and oil painting that I have been accustomed to. I have used glitter painting on a embossed material.

Shankuntala and Bharatha

Hindu mythology has many good stories. We have to go to the beginning of our wonderful country which was named after the son of Shakuntala. As the story goes Shankuntala was married to King Dushyantha. Due to a curse they both were separated. Shankuntala gave birth to Bharatha in sage Kanva's hermitage. One day Bharatha was playing with the lion cubs in front of his mother. My inspiration came through this thought and innocence of the little boy and his struggling mother.I have painted my inspiration in a water color palette.

Buddha and Me

I have been searching for inner peace. We all have heard stories about how Gautama Buddha asked us to follow our Dharma and leave all worldly materialistic things. At this point of my life I am still struggling to let go. Thoughts are always as to how to let go and move on to get inner peace. One day I was contemplating to paint a modern art or go for mythological figures, thought struck me why not paint myself in front of Buddha. I felt it is for me a step closer to Buddhas teaching. I have put a lot of effort to create the old charm and the time that Buddha was there. This is my tribute to Buddhas teaching.

Devayani Sharmista

Sharmista was given as a maid to Devayani by King Vrushaparva. Devayani was the daughter of shukracharya. Devayani and Sharmista were relaxing with King Vrushaparva's other daughters while Devayani accidently wore Sharmistas clothes. Devayani was humiliated by Sharmista and her sisters as a daughter of a begger. She went home crying to her father Shukracharya. Her father was know to curse. King Vrushaparva was scared of Shukracharyas curse. This is a small story that I tried to tell. If I could explain as to details it might take for ever. My inspiration to paint is Devayani and Sharmista as they both were friends and I think it is very fasinating to bring in old hindu mythology to imagination and picture. This painting is my imagination. I hope I have made full justice to the story and the characters related to this story. The colors that I wanted to bring in to this picture are very life like which are blue, green, yellow, red with a lot of texture and detail.

Hawaii-Beach

Last couple of years I have an wonderful opportunity to travel. I have always been fasinated to visit Hawaii. In the year 2007one of our friends gave me an opportunity to travel with them to Hawaii since this was business cum pleasure trip for them. They both insisted that I travel, I am very glad and thankful to this day that I took the chance to go with them to Hawaii. I came back equipped with lots and lots of imagination and thoughts. Hawaii is a paradise for an artist like me. It gives an wonderful natural ocean back drop. I brought my imagination into ocean painting. I have used Marine blue as it brings in the depth of the ocean. To create the ripples I have used combination of white, blue and violet. I used blue to bring in the sky with the ocean.

Castle-Germany

Three years back I got a opportunity to visit all of Europe with my husband Murthy. We had a wonderful time taking the trip. While we were in Germany leg of our trip we got an opportunity to visit Heidelberg Castle. Its charm and beauty made me dumb stuck. Once I got back home it became my inspiration to paint the castle. I don't think you can do justice to the beauty. However I hope I have come close.

This picture is about the anchored ship . I happened to browse through a book. One of the pictures appealed and inspired me to sketch this picture and use water color media. Painting of Shivana samudram

I happened to visit my hometown during the month of June of 1999. All my family members planned a day of picnic at Shivana Samudram which is close to Mysore in Karnataka. The river Kaveri branches into Gagana chukki and Bara chukki, which gushes down as water falls. It was glorious sight to see the roaring falls which captured my vision to take the photograph. After my return, I brought brush and palette into action which is an outcome of this picture.

Winter snow scene; Horse coach ride

This painting is about a typical winter snow scene. I live on the east coast of North America which has beautiful greenery. We often bet greeting cards from our family and friends who are on either coast. One of the cards was about beautiful snow which inspired myself and my young girl, Veda to bring our hands and brush into full action. We both sketched the picture. Veda tried to experiment a little bit with water color and pastels. We sketched the small bushes and plants at the back drop of the cottages and barn. Veda imagined herself in the Horse coach with me and drew the horse coach. It is a scene with a whole front yard covered with lot of snow, The little boys shoveling and dragging the Christmas tree. Myself and Veda feel this picture would certainly inspire the viewers to visualize the winter scene and fill their thoughts with colors.

Harvest season in the rural village

This picture is about rural area which I visited once while I was in my hometown. We, who are nurtured in city are only aware of the hassles of city life. It is always nice to visit the rural village which us a raw and totally new feeling about nature. It was harvest season during the months of December and January the paddy fields which was in full swing of hues and green ready for harvesting. It was a very beautiful scene to watch the village flocks harvesting the crop. After my return, I pictured in my mind the raw beauty of the fields with the morning glory of the sun over the sheaths. The small cottages as a back drop for my painting. This beauty itched my hands into bringing my painting brushes and palette into full action that resulted in this picture.

Aika setting home after her evening walk

I painted this picture of Aika, viewing the engrave on one of the flower vase at my place. The evening twilight, The sun raise reflecting the brightness of the flowers in a tree, the hazy mountain invoked my painting quest to sketch Aikas' picture and paint her.The beauty of Kyoto captures ones imagination.Aika in her black Kimono and with her beautiful hairstyle(samurai topknot)takes a stroll in the evening towards her home
